Is whiskey liquor?

Whiskey is the name of a wide category of alcoholic beverages; which is obtained from the fermentation of cereal grains and after distillation it is stored in oak barrels. To prepare different types of whiskey, various grains are used, including barley, rye, malt, wheat and corn. Alcohol obtained from the fermentation and sweating of grain or malt, which is “sleeping” in a wooden barrel of the mixture, is called whiskey. Whiskey is hard liquor and usually has an alcohol content of about 40% ABV. Whiskey is an amber to the brown-colored distilled spirit made from fermented grains of varying blends and varieties depending on local grains and tastes.
